Listen to my voice

This coming Sunday we will continue our teaching series on knowing and obeying the Commands of Christ.   Often, the Bible uses the imagery of shepherding to help us understand what it means to be in relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd.   This coming Sunday our focus will be on "Listen to my voice."

I had the opportunity last summer to spend a day with some shepherds in the middle of a dessert in Jordan.   It was amazing to watch and witness how the goats and sheep followed the voice and command of the shepherd.   Please come ready to explore in more depth what it means to listen to our Good Shepherds voice and follow after him.

Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.......   A picture of a good under-shepherd who walks faithfully after the Good Shepherd.

As you can see, if you are a sheep or goat in this wilderness, you do not want to wander away from your shepherd.  Becoming isolated or left behind in this environment can be very dangerous.   This gives us a good picture of our need to stick close to the Good Shepherd, JESUS CHRIST, to listen to his voice and follow after him.
